Landscaping tools
If you are doing landscaping work, you can’t have enough tools. That is why you see landscapers driving around with huge
caches of tools on their trucks and trailers. If you have the right tool for a specific job, it makes all the difference, and without that
special tool, the job can take so much longer to do. For example, if you need to pull up roots and you have to do it by hand, you might
find it impossible, but if you have a pair of clippers made for cutting roots, or you have a chain saw or other tool, you might do the same
job in minutes and be done with it. Clothing is one kind of tool you need, and a good set of work clothes is important. The reason many
forest service workers and gardeners wear dark green or brown is not just because it does not clash with nature’s colors, but because these
colors do not attract as many insects. If you wear white painter’s clothes to garden, you are going to be a magnet for bugs and that is not
such a good fashion statement to make.
Other landscaping tools include good sturdy rakes, hoes, pruning shears, pitch forks, wheel barrows, tillers, and edgers or
weed eaters. These tools are each made for either a specific job or a specific set of tasks, and depending on what your project calls for
you may need one or all of them, at the same time, and you may use each one at least once a day. Lawn mowers are also a tool that most
landscapers have to have, and post hole diggers and tampers are the kind of tools that they might need once in a while, but not as often as
a mower or weed eater, for example.
As you work you will learn what kinds of tools you need most, and then you can make a list of the most important and essential
landscaping tools and buy yourself a set of them. If you are able to work using someone else’s tools at first, that is great, because it
will give you a chance to use the various tools of the trade and learn about them, so that you can narrow down the list of those you need
to own for your own purposes, before you make the investment in a set of tools.
